<strong>How to Apply for a Grant</strong><br />
Collect an application form from your local National Irish Bank branch, complete and return it to your branch, or download a form (link below), print off and once completed, return it to your branch. Please return your completed form to your local branch or email it to <a href="mailto:communitygrants@nationalirishbank.ie">communitygrants@nationalirishbank.ie</a></p>
<p><strong>Deadline: 30 September 2008</strong></p>
<p>Anyone may apply for support from National Irish Bank Community Grants, with the exception of individuals and businesses.</p>
<p><strong>What initiatives and projects qualify for support?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>It must promote educational projects, training or knowledge based activities in your community</li>
<li>It must be open to the general public – i.e. it must benefit the local community in general</li>
<li>It must benefit the local community. By this, we mean that it must be of local origin and must be carried out locally. It is, therefore, not possible to obtain support for travel outside of the region. However, it is possible to apply for support to fund visits from visiting lecturers, trainers etc</li>
<li>Support will not be awarded to projects with a religious or political purpose nor for the general operating costs of associations, sports clubs, etc.</li>

Governance is the key to the success and well-being of community and voluntary organisations, ensuring they fulfill their mission, live up to their values and remain viable for the future and now is the best time for your organisation to prepare for regulation by reviewing its governance arrangements and practice.</p>
<p><strong>Get to Grips With Governance</strong><br />
The Wheel and Boardmatch Ireland are offering this workshop and training programme which is designed to support directors, board members, senior administrators, trustees and managers of charities as they apply the key principles of good governance.</p>
<p>This exciting event will help you and your organisation to:</p>

<li>develop an understanding of the functions that a governing body performs</li>
<li>develop and understanding of the  governing body roles, responsibilities and potential liabilities</li>
<li>reflect on the development and improvement of practice of governance</li>

<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">  Common Ground aims to bring together a wide variety of organisations to provide a strong stimulus to members of the public, the youth sector and second-level school-goers to engage with global issues. The NGO sector, missionary organisations of the various churches, youth organisations, third-level institutions offering courses in Development Studies, as well as community-based organisations, will be represented. The event will also afford an opportunity for dialogue and networking between these organisations. This year&#8217;s speakers at the Thursday evening sessions: Liz O’Donnell; Fr. Peter McVerry, S.J; Patrick Nalere (Uganda); Chair: Mary Crilly.</p>
