<p>Our next Monthly Meeting will take place on Wednesday 2 April at 7pm in Nasc, Mary Street, Cork. We will be showing a number of short documentaries lent to us by the Latin America Solidarity Centre on the issue of water in Latin America, followed by a discussion. Water is the theme of Latin America Week 2008 which is taking place from 5 - 12 April, check out <a href="http://www.lasc.ie/">www.lasc.ie</a> for further information.</p>
<p>From this month, our Monthly Meetings will take place the first Wednesday of every month at Nasc - pencil it in your diary! If you have any issues you would like raised please let us know. We will also soon begin working on our next Irish Aid funding proposal so if you have any ideas you would like explored please let us know so we can include them.</p>

<strong>Speakers from Kenya and El Salvador offer powerful perspectives on a global issue.</strong></p>
<p>Climate change is a global justice issue. Carbon emissions from rich countries have contributed most to climate change, yet it is the poor in developing countries who are being hit hardest by its consequences.  If we are to truly face up to the challenge of climate change, the voices and ideas of those in developing countries need to be heard.This spring,Trocaire are offering the public throughout Ireland a chance to hear from two speakers <strong><font size="2">Dr. Dominic Walubengo </font></strong><font size="2">and</font><strong><font size="2"> Martha Yvette Aguilar, </font></strong>who have a unique insight and expertise on the real impact of climate change – coming from two of the countries directly affected.</p>

<p><strong><em><font size="2">Martha Yvette Aguilar</font></em></strong><em><font size="2"> is a contributing researcher with the IPCC and has over ten years experience in shaping El Salvador&#8217;s national and international environmental policies. She combines a strong understanding of the current and future impact of climate change on vulnerable communities with a powerful expertise on the policies and possibilities of adaptation. </font></em></p>
<p><strong><em><font size="2">Dr. Dominic Walubengo</font></em></strong><em><font size="2"> is the Director of Forest Action Network Kenya and an expert on institutional reform in the natural resources sector. A former consultant with the Food Agricultural Organisation&#8217;s  &#8217;Forests, Trees and People Programme&#8217;, he played a key role in the development of Kenya&#8217;s Forest Policy and Legislation.  Emphasising the relationship between poverty, environment and good governance, Dr Walubengo is a committed advocate of participatory approaches to resource management.</font></em></p>
