Rx3 has been created as the new name for the Market Development Programme. Rx3 “rethink recycle remake” works with a range of partners and stakeholders to create markets for recycled materials.
Rx3 are running a Sustainable Innovation Forum on 27th April. This will highlight thinking around sustainability and design, showcase recycled products and ideas that unite social, economic and environmental values. It will also highlight opportunities and provide information and support to stakeholders and people who have an interest in the waste marketplace. As part of the forum Rx3 are hosting two competitions.
60 Green Minutes
Participants need to demonstrate how waste can be recycled to make new products. The core task is to demonstrate a business idea that takes something disposable and transforms it into something of greater use and value.

Has your company taken up the challenge of reducing energy use?
Why not enter the it@cork Leaders Awards Green Technology category?
The third annual it@cork Leaders Awards – Recognising Leaders in Technology Innovation, will take place on October 22. This year we have a new category - the Green Technology Award. We’d like to recognise companies which have successfully used technology to bring about reductions in their energy use or to create greater efficiencies in energy use within their company. The full list of criteria can be seen here. Companies big or small, with or without their own IT departments can enter, as long as they’ve been consciously using technology to reduce energy usage. Simple things like installing lighting sensors or default double-sided printing can make a big difference to a company’s overall energy footprint.Help us to reward companies which have taken up the challenge of going green - nominate the company you think has made a change before September 25. Submit a nomination here. Find more information on the criteria for the awards and the judging process on http://www.itcork.ie/index.cfm/page/2009leadersawards1 Tickets to the awards ceremony are €80 per person and can be purchased online. Tables of ten are also available. To make a group booking please email alison@itcork.ie
This just in from Jenny Webb: We’re doing two gunpowder mills walks for heritage week this year. Sunday 23rd and Sunday 30th. Meet at the GAA end of the regional park outside the old visitors centre at 1.45pm. Walk should take 2 hours. Wear strong footwear. Enjoy a walk through the woods and learn how gunpowder was made in the 19th century with reference to the surviving buildings.
