Biodiversity Week Events and Activities
20th – 27th May 2007
A partnership between the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government and Ireland’s environmental NGOs is organising a series of nationwide activities during the first ever National Biodiversity Week which runs from Sunday 20th May 20th to Saturday 27th May. National Biodiversity Week presents a series of events and activities throughout the country that everyone can participate in. The list below gives details of the many activities going on – there’s Bat Walks, Butterfly Walks, Coastal Surveys, organised tours of wonderful places and plenty of information.

Sunday 20th May:
4.30am: Bird Watch National Dawn Chorus Day at Ballirisode Bridge between Schull and Goleen. Meet at the Café at 4:30am, followed by visit to Mizen/Lissagriffin area. Leader: Mike Cobley (027 53809).
Tuesday 22nd May:
The Cork Travellers Wonmen’s Group in partnership with Irish Wildlife Trust. Family activities at housing project on the Kinsale Road. Including making bird feeder tables, litter clear up and planting of wildlife friendly plants. For more details email corktravellerwomen@hotmail.com
Thurs 24th May:
9.16 pm: Bat Walk at Lee Road, Lee Fields, Cork City, organized by Cork Bat Group.
Saturday 26nd May:
Stream Scapes Upper Lee Catchment Festival, produced by Coomhola Salmon Trust of Bantry, County Cork, at Inchigeelagh Parish Hall and Rivershide Park 3.00pm . The culmination of an intensive aqatic and biodiveristy awareness project for the River Lee Community. Participating schools and adult community groups report on their projects; music, entertainment, an appearance by the magic Breadan Bui puppet, and participants release salmon fry in to the River Lee.
